The Nest: A Shepherd Hut in Cornwall
Made for slow mornings and long evenings.
The Nest sits in the shadiest corner of the site, tucked back under the trees where the valley narrows. It is the quieter of our two shepherd huts, and it is the one people book when what they actually want is to disappear for a couple of days.
The shade is the point. In high summer it stays cool when the rest of the site is baking, and the tree cover means you can sit outside with a coffee at seven in the morning and hear nothing but birds. One guest described it as natural shade from the trees and lush green grass, which is about right.
Inside
A proper double bed, a private kitchen with a fridge and enough equipment to cook a real meal rather than reheat one, and your own shower room and toilet. No shared block, no walking across wet grass in the dark, and nobody else's timetable to work around.
It is finished warm and simple rather than modern. If you want the more contemporary spec and the open valley view, that is The View, our other hut further up the slope.
Outside
Your own seating area and a fire pit, with wood included. Most evenings end up there whatever the plan was.
Who it suits
Couples who want somewhere genuinely quiet rather than somewhere that photographs well. Adults only, two nights minimum, from £120 a night.

What's Nearby
Perranporth Beach
Fifteen minutes on foot and you are on three miles of sand. Downhill on the way there, which you tend to remember on the way back.
The Bolingey Inn
Two hundred metres down the lane. Close enough that nobody has ever driven to it.
Perranporth Town
Bolingey Fishing Lake
Fifty metres across the road from the entrance. Worth a look first thing even if you have no intention of fishing.
Trans Euro Trail
The route passes the gate, so the riding starts before you have properly left the site.
