Mountain Biking
Mountain Biking and Glamping in Cornwall
Ride the old mining country by day and come back to a hot shower and a fire pit. We're twenty minutes from the best riding in Cornwall.
Most people picture Cornwall as coast path and beach. Ride ten minutes inland and it turns into something else: a hundred and fifty years of mining left a network of quarry tracks, spoil heaps and tramway beds that riders have been using ever since. From our gate in the Bolingey valley, the Poldice Valley jumps and the Mineral Tramways network are both inside half an hour.

What's We Provide
Storage
Somewhere secure to put your bike overnight, and free parking if you're travelling with a rack or a van
Hot Showers
A private shower room in each shepherd hut, so you're not walking across a field in wet kit
Firepits
A fire pit outside every unit with the wood included. We don't hire bikes, so bring your own or hire at Bissoe or Lanhydrock
How It Works
1
Book Your Stay
Choose your dates and your accommodation. The View and The Nest (our two shepherd huts) sleeping two, and a safari tent sleeping four.
2
Bring Your Bike
Load the rack or the van. There's parking on site and somewhere to lock up overnight. If you'd rather hire, there's a shop at Bissoe and another at Lanhydrock.
3
Ride From The Door
Poldice is twenty minutes inland. The tramways run largely traffic-free from Portreath to Devoran. We'll point you at whichever suits the riders you've got.
Before You Ride
For experienced riders
Poldice is quarry riding, not a waymarked trail centre. Much of it is black grade with jumps, gaps, kickers, doubles and drops.
Not ready for that?
The Mineral Tramways network is on the same doorstep and parts of it are flat and traffic-free enough for a child learning to ride.
Keep safe!
Much of this is public bridleway shared with walkers and horse riders. Stay on paths waymarked with the engine house symbol, and give way.

Where To Ride Nearby

Poldice Valley
St Day, 20 minutes
Quarry riding on the Mineral Tramways network, and the reason most riders end up here. Dirt jumps, freeride lines and downhill tracks, much of it black grade. Park on the roadside south of the valley and head north toward the old mines at Goon Gumpas.

Mineral Tramways and Unity Woods
Portreath to Devoran
Around fourteen miles of largely traffic-free trail, climbing steadily to Wheal Busy before dropping down to the water. Unity Woods at Scorrier sits on the same route, a hillside wood with an easy climb in and a sea of bluebells in May.

Cardinham Woods and Lanhydrock
Bodmin, 45 minutes
Worth the drive for a full day. Cardinham has the Bodmin Beast, twelve kilometres built for experienced riders, plus gentler blue trails. Lanhydrock is flatter, better for families, and has a skills area and bike hire including children's bikes.
