Most couples looking for a break in Cornwall want two things that don’t always sit together. Proper time away from everything, and something worth getting up for.
That’s what the Couples Retreat is built around. Two nights in one of our shepherd huts or the safari tent, a surf lesson down at the beach, and a yoga class here on site. Prices start at £200 per person.
What’s included
Two nights of glamping
Our shepherd huts – The Nest and The View – have their own kitchen and shower, so you have everything to yourselves. Chirps, the safari tent, gives you more room to spread out if you’d rather, and uses the washroom block. Both come with an outdoor space and a fire pit, which is where most evenings end up.
A surf lesson
We work with surf schools who have been teaching on these beaches for years. It makes no difference whether you’ve surfed before or have never stood on a board. They sort the wetsuit and the board, and they know where to put beginners depending on what the sea is doing that morning. Perranporth is usually where we send people, since it’s wide and forgiving and works in most conditions. If you fancy something with more of a Newquay feel to it, Watergate Bay is the other option.
A yoga class
On site, in the valley, which is a fairly good place for it. Somewhere between the trees and the sound of not very much at all. It works whether you practise regularly or have only ever meant to start.
If there’s something else you’d like built into the weekend, we can usually arrange other workshops with a bit of notice. Worth asking when you book rather than after.
Where you’ll be
We’re tucked into the Bolingey valley, a short stroll from Perranporth’s three mile beach. The pub sits 200 metres from our gate and town is about fifteen minutes on foot along the Saints Trail. In practice that means you can park when you arrive and leave the car there until you go home, which is not something you can say about most places down here.

The bits in between
Not all of it needs planning. There’s a BBQ area, a pickle ball court, and camp games dotted around the site. Guests regularly tell us they meant to have a quiet night and ended up playing table tennis until it went dark.
We’re adults only, so it stays calm. There are usually deer about first thing in the morning. There’s no WiFi, though the mobile signal is good if you need it, and most people find they stop reaching for their phone after the first evening anyway.
Who it suits
Couples who want a bit of both. If you’d rather do very little, you can. The huts are comfortable, the valley is quiet, and nobody is going to knock on your door. If you want to be in the sea by ten and stretched out on a mat by four, that works too. The retreat gives the weekend a shape without filling it in completely.
It also makes a straightforward present. If you’re trying to buy something for a couple who already own everything, two nights, a surf lesson and a yoga class is easier than another candle.
